Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality.

I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realize that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

I wish I didn’t work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end.

That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again. When you are on your deathbed, what  others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Life is not a problem to be solved, but a reality to be experienced.

A paradox. life can only be understood backwards but it must be lived forward.

Face the facts of being what you are, for that is what changes what you are.

The most common form of despair is not being who you are.

I see it all perfectly; there are two possible situations — one can either do this or that. My honest opinion and my friendly advice is this: do it or do not do it — you will regret both.

A man who as a physical being is always turned toward the outside, thinking that his happiness lies outside him, finally turns inward and discovers that the source is within him.

Listen to the cry of a woman in labor at the hour of giving birth — look at the dying man’s struggle at his last extremity, and then tell me whether something that begins and ends thus could be intended for enjoyment.

Love is the expression of the one who loves, not of the one who is loved. Those who think they can love only the people they prefer do not love at all. Love discovers truths about individuals that others cannot see.

There is nothing everyone is so afraid of as being told how vastly much he is capable of. You are capable of – do you want to know? – you are capable of living in poverty; you are capable of standing almost any kind of maltreatment, abuse, etc. But you do not wish to know about it, isn’t that so? You would be furious with him who told you so, and only call that person your friend who bolsters you in saying: ‘No, this I cannot bear, this is beyond my strength, etc.

“Amazing Grace,” one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world, is a Christian hymn with words written by John Newton (1725–1807), published in 1779.

Newton wrote the words from personal experience. He grew up without any particular religious conviction but his life’s path was formed by a variety of twists and coincidences that were often put into motion by his recalcitrant insubordination. He was pressed into the Royal Navy and became a sailor, eventually participating in the slave trade. One night a terrible storm battered his vessel so severely that he became frightened enough to call out to God for mercy, a moment that marked the beginning of his spiritual conversion. His career in slave trading lasted a few years more until he quit going to sea altogether and began studying theology.

Ordained in the Church of England in 1764, Newton became curate of Olney, Buckinghamshire, where he began to write hymns with poet William Cowper. “Amazing Grace” was written to illustrate a sermon on New Year’s Day of 1773. It is unknown if there was any music accompanying the verses, and it may have been chanted by the congregation without music. It debuted in print in 1779 in Newton and Cowper’s Olney Hymns, but settled into relative obscurity in England. In the United States however, “Amazing Grace” was used extensively during the Second Great Awakening in the early 19th century. It has been associated with more than 20 melodies, but in 1835 it was joined to a tune named “New Britain” to which it is most frequently sung today.

Author Gilbert Chase writes that “Amazing Grace” is “without a doubt the most famous of all the folk hymns”, and Jonathan Aitken, a Newton biographer, estimates that it is performed about 10 million times annually. It has had particular influence in folk music, and become an emblematic African American spiritual. Its universal message has been a significant factor in its crossover into secular music. “Amazing Grace” saw a resurgence in popularity in the U.S. during the 1960s and has been recorded thousands of times during and since the 20th century, sometimes appearing on popular music charts.

所以我們務要追求和平的事，以及彼此建造的事。不可因食物拆毀神的工程。凡物固然潔淨，但人喫了，以致成了絆腳石，就是他的惡了。無論是喫肉，是喝酒，或是甚麼別的絆跌你弟兄的事，一概不作纔好。

弟兄們，那些造成分立和絆跌之事，違反你們所學之教訓的人，我懇求你們要留意，並要避開他們。

哥林多前書 8:8-13

O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing

你要得着恢复，第一步就是回转。当我们回转，我们就不是只是对付这个罪的表象，乃是回到罪的根源，就是向神独立。当我们回转归向神的时候，我们就是对付罪的根源。人愿意接受罪的一切后果，对付那些罪的表面现象，但是却不愿意对付罪的根源。

遮藏和保护

诗篇三十二篇第三节说，我试着遮藏，我闭口不认罪的时候，人可以作很多的事，来隐藏自己的罪。但是这只是重复亚当所作的，就是用无花果树的叶子来遮羞，这个是要保护自己，这个是人一犯了罪，自动会有的反应。

我列出五个点，这几种是人所用的，来遮藏罪的方法。

1. 借着自义来遮藏罪。你犯了罪，你将它合理化，你就说那是因为环境造成的。然后你带进属世的哲学，来接纳你自己，不要那么控告自己阿，你要接受你自己阿。
2. 自责，自己责备自己，这是另外一方面，你那样的自责，你失去了你自己的自尊，你觉得很可怜，你定罪自己。你以为你定罪自己，就能够补偿。
3. 隔离，你将自己隔绝起来。
4. 惩罚自己，你作一些事来惩罚自己。你不吃或者你作一些残害自己的事，人可以作一些很可怕的事。这个人很通常会有这样的想法，你犯了罪，你有一家他们制造一种的东西，你觉得犯了罪，你就去喝，喷这个东西，然后这个罪的感觉就没有了。有人以为罪是那么的轻，事实上不是。所以第四点是自己惩罚自己。
5. 背叛自己，这是你对自己惩罚自己的一个反应，就是背叛自己。

悔改和认罪

当我们犯罪，我们要面对它。所以下面两点是悔改和认罪。阿们。我们需要悔改，我们也需要认罪。我也要解释一点，关于这两个点。悔改就是回转，你要得着恢复，头一件事，就是不要留在我刚才所说的那些情形里面，乃要回转。关于这个有三方面，

第一，当我们回转的时候，我们就看见自己。诗篇五十一篇第三节说，我的罪常在我面前。至终我面对我的罪，我不隐藏，我看见我的罪。我的罪常在我面前，我知道我的过犯。

第二，当你回转的时候，你就看见你的罪，正如神看见你的罪一样。你要看见你的罪，像神看见你的罪一样。就是照着神的态度来看待这个罪。这个罪是躲不掉的。你必须暴露它，你必须使它明显化。大卫说，我是在罪孽里生的，我母亲在罪中怀了我。是的，主阿我不怪罪任何人，不怪罪我的父亲，我的母亲，我的幼年等等，是我，我就是个罪人。

第四节，我在你眼前行了这恶。我向你犯罪，惟独得罪了你。很多人他们读到这一节的时候，他们就有点难处，大卫是那么可怕。他的确叫人跘跌，他为什么说，他犯罪惟独得罪了神。也许我可以这样解释，这是根据经历来解释。当你犯罪的时候，不错，那是可怕的。然而，当你来到主面前，你的罪干犯了人，好像五十瓦的灯泡，但是到了神面前，那个好像五千瓦的灯泡。所以似乎你这样的犯罪只有得罪了神，这个就是悔改。悔改不仅是说抱歉，悔改乃是把你自己带到这样的一个五千瓦的灯泡里面，说，主阿我在那里。

所以第一，你在你自己里面看见罪，第二，你看见罪，正如神看见一样。第三的悔改乃是转向神。第一节，神阿，求你按你的慈爱恩待我，求你恩待我。这一个祷告是面对神，面对面的面对神。第十一节说，“不要丢弃我，使我离开你的面。”当你犯罪的时候，你很容易躲藏，你试着避开神的面，你不应该避开神的面，好像一个人知道自己得了癌症，他故意避开医生，避开这些的检验，因为他害怕。悔改乃是转向主自己。回转归向主，要回转，回转归向主，这就是福音。

路加二十四章四十七节说到，我们所传的福音，乃是悔改的福音，是回转的福音。以赛亚书四十四章第二节说，你们要回转归向我，因为我救赎了你们。以赛亚四十五章二十二节，这个地极阿都要回转归向我。司布真在那一个小的教堂里面，只有很少的人，在那里听，他就一直重复这个话，地极的人都当转向我，地极的人都当转向我。有一个人在那里就受了感动。

何西阿书六章一节，来吧，我们归向耶和华。你要得着恢复，第一步就是回转。当我们回转，我们就不是只是对付这个罪的表象，乃是回到罪的根源，就是向神独立。当我们回转归向神的时候，我们就是对付罪的根源。人愿意接受罪的一切后果，对付那些罪的表面现象，但是却不愿意对付罪的根源。什么是悔改，悔改乃是回转归向神。那什么是认罪呢？认罪就是罗马十章十节，信就叫人得救。对不起，信叫你得称义，这是心里的事，而承认使你得救，这是口里认罪。承认你的罪带进你的救恩。你如果要得着恢复，你就要承认你的罪，告诉主说，主阿，我很抱歉，我犯了这个罪，这是个罪。这不仅仅是我的软弱，不仅仅是我犯了错，我乃是犯罪得罪了你。认罪是遮藏的相反，你遮藏的时候你用各种的方式，尽力的作一切的事，但你却不愿意转向神，而认罪乃是不遮藏，却是说出来并承认你犯了罪。所以，当我们犯了罪，我们必须承认我们的罪。这甚至在我们说到我们的罪的时候，就有一种健康的、医治的效果。我们里面的一切的感觉、情绪都需要一种外在的发表。我解释，当我里面觉得非常忧伤的时候，你就要哭出来。人会叫你要哭出来，你哭出来就会感觉比较好一点。你也许说你里面的那个深重的罪咎需要我们认罪。

1. 骨头枯干

一个人试着隐藏他的罪，就会有这样的结果，这是隐藏，是没有用 的，你越遮掩，这个罪就越把你蚕食，所以这个带来这样一个后果，损伤你这个人，使你失去意志的能力，你觉得被消耗掉，你觉得你要放弃。

2. 终日唉哼

这个是一个持续的叫你觉得沮丧叫你觉得失望的情形，一个人如果留在罪里，就会有这样的情形。

3. 你的手在我身上沉重

白日黑夜，你的手在我身上沉重。 这个就是那个持续的定罪的感觉。这个是罪在人身上所起的作用。

4. 精液耗尽

这个消耗，把你这个人人完全消耗掉。罪是非常消耗人的。当你在喝酒的时候，有某种的享受，但是你醉酒之后，就会把你这个人消耗掉。喝酒伤你的肝，伤你的胰脏，伤你的大脑，伤你的心脏，伤你的神经系统，会把你这个人杀死。有的人，他们因着犯罪，你这个人整个身体都坏掉了。还有很多的事，都会带来这样的后果。这个后果就是不只毁坏我们这个人，毁坏我们的身体，更毁坏我们周围的人，毁坏我们与人的关系。那些欺骗妻子的人，伤害他们的妻子，也伤害他们的儿女，伤害了每一个人。

5. 肉无一完全, 骨頭無一健全

“因你的恼怒，我的肉无一完全；因我的罪，我的骨头无一健全。”当罪临到一个人的时候，就叫他的整个人格都瓦解了。

6. 罪孽高过头

这一个是罪在人身上那个压制的力量。好像重担叫我担当不起。罪能够这样压制人，叫人喘不过气来。

7. 伤口发臭流脓

这个是那个蚕食的后果，毒害的后果。罪不仅仅是单一的行为，乃是会在你里面蔓延。

8. 屈身弯腰，弯到极低

这个是叫一个人被卑屈。

9. 满腰灼痛

这个是罪在人身上折磨人，叫人受痛若。

10. 被压伤，身体麻木

这个是罪叫人麻木，叫你没有感觉。

11. 心跳动，力衰微

这个是罪叫人衰弱。有时候罪在人身上的影响力是那么大，甚至影响到人的肉身。

12. 眼中没有光

使你眼瞎，把你摆在黑暗中。罪会把你带到一个非常黑暗的地方。

13. 愛友良朋都躲在旁邊站著；亲属也远远的站立

如聋子不能听，像哑吧不能开口，罪使一个人被隔绝，一个犯罪的人，是一个非常孤独的人。

14. 我失脚的时候，他们向我夸大

罪不仅仅是罪，罪还会有放大的效果。罪是会放大的，它毁坏你这个人，使你这个人失去正常的功能，并且使你成为非常的恶劣。所以有罪的控告，罪疚，罪的定罪，还有这些的后果。

罗马书-Romans 13:13
行事为人要端正得体，好像在白昼；不可荒宴醉酒，不可纵欲淫荡，不可争竞嫉妒；

Though not the first to analyze dreams, he is one of the best known researchers in the field of dream analysis and symbolization. While he was a fully involved and practicing clinician, much of his life’s work was spent exploring tangential areas, including Eastern and Western philosophy, alchemy, astrology, and sociology, as well as literature and the arts; all of which were extremely productive in regard to the symbols and processes of the human psyche, found in dreams and other entries to the unconscious.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. Here’s to the crazy Christians. The ones who upset the world (Acts 17:6). The  ones who  cause division (Luke 12:51). The ones who was not disobedient to the heavenly vision (Acts 26:19). They’re not fond of worldly possessions or earthly pleasures. And they find no satisfaction in the present age. You can ignore them, disagree with them, or despise them (1 Cor 1:28). About the only thing you can’t do is stop them. Because they change human hearts. They bring the human race to the divine realm. 第三印:黑马与骑马者─饥荒增剧

8:10-11 第三位天使吹号，就有烧着的大星，好像火把从天上落下来，落在江河的三分之一，和众水的泉上。这星名叫茵陈；众水的三分之一变为茵陈，因水变苦，就死了许多人。

第四号：审判日、月、星辰
第四位天使吹号，日头的三分之一、月亮的三分之一、星辰的三分之一都被击打，以致日月星辰的三分之一黑暗了，白昼的三分之一不发亮，黑夜也是这样。

第五号：第一样灾祸：无底坑中出来的蝗虫叫人们痛苦
8:13-9:11 我又看见，并听见一只鹰在天空顶点飞着，大声说，三位天使要吹那其余的号，由于这号声，住在地上的人，祸哉，祸哉，祸哉。第五位天使吹号，我就看见一个星从天落到地上，有无底坑的钥匙赐给他。他开了无底坑，便有烟从坑里往上冒，好像大火炉的烟，日头和天空都因这坑的烟昏暗了。有蝗虫从烟中出来飞到地上，有能力赐给它们，好像地上蝎子的能力。又有话吩咐它们，不可伤害地上的草，和各样的青物，并各样的树木，惟独可以伤害额上没有神印记的人。但不许蝗虫害死他们，只叫他们受痛苦五个月，这痛苦就像蝎子螫人的痛苦一样。在那些日子，人要求死，却绝不得死；切望要死，死却远避他们。蝗虫的样子好像预备出战的马，头上好像戴着冠冕，仿佛是金的，脸面像人的脸面，头发像女人的头发，牙齿像狮子的牙齿，胸甲好像铁甲，翅膀的声音，好像许多车马奔跑上阵的声音，尾巴像蝎子，又有毒刺，尾巴有能力伤人五个月。有无底坑的使者作王管辖它们；他的名，希伯来话叫亚巴顿，希利尼话叫亚玻伦。

第六号：第二样灾祸：二万万马军杀了人类的三分之一

Cornelia “Corrie” ten Boom (Amsterdam, April 15, 1892 – Orange, California, April 15, 1983) was a Dutch Christian, who with her father and other family members helped many Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II. Her family was arrested due to an informant in 1944, and her father died 10 days later at Scheveningen prison where they were first held. A sister, brother and nephew were released, but Corrie and her sister Betsie were sent to Ravensbruck concentration camp, where only Corrie survived.

Corrie ten Boom has long been honored by evangelical Christians as an exemplar of Christian faith in action. Arrested by the Nazis along with the rest of her family for hiding Jews in their Haarlem home during the Holocaust, she was imprisoned and eventually sent to the Ravensbruck concentration camp along with her beloved sister, Betsie, who perished there just days before Corrie’s own release on December 31, 1944. Inspired by Betsie’s example of selfless love and forgiveness amid extreme cruelty and persecution, Corrie established a post-war home for other camp survivors trying to recover from the horrors they had escaped. She went on to travel widely as a missionary, preaching God’s forgiveness and the need for reconciliation. Corrie’s devout moral principles were tested when, by chance, she came face to face with one of her former tormentors in 1947. The following description of that experience is excerpted from her 1971 autobiography, The Hiding Place, written with the help of John and Elizabeth Sherrill.

It was in a church in Munich that I saw him, a balding heavy-set man in a gray overcoat, a brown felt hat clutched between his hands. People were filing out of the basement room where I had just spoken. It was 1947 and I had come from Holland to defeated Germany with the message that God forgives. …

And that’s when I saw him, working his way forward against the others. One moment I saw the overcoat and the brown hat; the next, a blue uniform and a visored cap with its skull and crossbones. It came back with a rush: the huge room with its harsh overhead lights, the pathetic pile of dresses and shoes in the center of the floor, the shame of walking naked past this man. I could see my sister’s frail form ahead of me, ribs sharp beneath the parchment skin. Betsie, how thin you were!

Betsie and I had been arrested for concealing Jews in our home during the Nazi occupation of Holland; this man had been a guard at Ravensbruck concentration camp where we were sent. …

“You mentioned Ravensbruck in your talk,” he was saying. “I was a guard in there.” No, he did not remember me.

“I had to do it — I knew that. The message that God forgives has a prior condition: that we forgive those who have injured us.”

“But since that time,” he went on, “I have become a Christian. I know that God has forgiven me for the cruel things I did there, but I would like to hear it from your lips as well. Fraulein, …” his hand came out, … “will you forgive me?”

And I stood there — I whose sins had every day to be forgiven — and could not. Betsie had died in that place — could he erase her slow terrible death simply for the asking?

It could not have been many seconds that he stood there, hand held out, but to me it seemed hours as I wrestled with the most difficult thing I had ever had to do.

For I had to do it — I knew that. The message that God forgives has a prior condition: that we forgive those who have injured us. “If you do not forgive men their trespasses,” Jesus says, “neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” …

And still I stood there with the coldness clutching my heart. But forgiveness is not an emotion — I knew that too. Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart. “Jesus, help me!” I prayed silently. “I can lift my hand, I can do that much. You supply the feeling.”

And so woodenly, mechanically, I thrust my hand into the one stretched out to me. And as I did, an incredible thing took place. The current started in my shoulder, raced down my arm, sprang into our joined hands. And then this healing warmth seemed to flood my whole being, bringing tears to my eyes.

“I forgive you, brother!” I cried. “With all my heart!”

For a long moment we grasped each other’s hands, the former guard and the former prisoner. I had never known God’s love so intensely as I did then.

In the book, Ideas and Opinions (1954), Einstein points to the problem of teaching to specialties rather than generalizable knowledge and critical thinking.

I want to oppose the idea that the school has to teach directly that special knowledge and those accomplishments, which one has to use later directly in life The demands of life are much too manifold to let such as specialized training in school appear possible. ..The school should always have as its aim that the young man leave it as a harmonious personality, not as a specialist…The development of general ability for independent thinking and judgment should always be placed foremost, not the acquisition of special knowledge. If a person masters the fundamentals of his subject and has learned to think and work independently, he will surely find his way and besides will better be able to adapt himself to progress and changes than the person whose training principally consists in the acquiring of detailed knowledge (p. 62).

It is not enough to teach a man a specialty. Through it he may become a kind of useful machine but not a harmoniously developed personality. It is essential that the student acquire an understanding of and a lively feeling for values. He must acquire a vivid sense of the beautiful and of the morally good. Otherwise he – with his specialized knowledge – more closely resembles a well trained dog than a harmoniously developed person. He must learn to understand the motives of human beings, their illusions, and their sufferings in order to acquire a proper relationship to the individual fellow-men and to the community…Overemphasis on the competitive system and premature specialization on the ground of immediate usefulness kill the spirit on which all cultural life depends, specialized knowledge included. It is also vital to a valuable education that independent critical thinking be developed in the young human being, a development that is greatly jeopardized by overburdening him with too much and with too varied subjects. Overburdening necessarily leads to superficiality (pp. 66-67).

It is not the fruits of scientific research that elevate a man and enrich his nature, but the urge to understand, the intellectual work creative or receptive (p. 12).

In the following passage, Einstein illuminates the importance of intellectual autonomy to the creation of critical societies:

Only the individual can think, and thereby create new values for society, nay, even set up new moral standards to which the life of the community conforms. Without creative personalities able to think and judge independently, the upward development of society is as unthinkable as the development of the community…In politics not only are leaders lacking, but the independence of spirit and the sense of justice of the citizen have to a great extent declined…In two weeks the sheeplike masses of any country can be worked up by the newspapers into such a state of excited fury that men are prepared to put on uniforms and kill and be killed…the present manifestations of decadence are explained by the fact that economic and technologic developments have highly intensified the struggle for existence, greatly to the detriment of the free development of the individual (p. 15).

In an open letter to the Society for Social Responsibility in Science, Einstein emphasizes the importance of individual responsibility in living an ethical life:

The problem of how man should act if his government prescribes actions or society expects an attitude which his own conscience considers wrong is indeed an old one. It is easy to say that the individual cannot be held responsible for acts carried out under irresistible compulsion, because the individual is fully dependent upon the society in which he is living and therefore must accept its rules. But the very formulation of this idea makes it obvious to what extent such a concept contradicts our sense of justice. External compulsion can, to a certain extent, reduce but never cancel the responsibility of the individual. In the Nuremberg trials this idea was considered to be self-evident. Whatever is morally important in our institutions, laws, and mores, can be traced back to interpretation of the sense of justice of countless individuals. Institutions are in a moral sense impotent unless they are supported by the sense of responsibility of living individuals. An effort to arouse and strengthen this sense of responsibility of the individual is an important service to mankind. In our times scientists and engineers carry particular moral responsibility, because the development of military means of mass destruction is within their sphere of activity (p. 27).

With regard to social conformity, Einstein says:

…there is such a thing as a spirit of the times, an attitude of mind characteristic of a particular generation, which is passed on from individual to individual and gives its distinctive mark to a society. Each of us has to do his little bit toward transforming this spirit of the times…Let every man judge by himself, by what he has himself read, not by what others tell him (pp. 29-30).

所以，我們既離開了那論到基督之開端的話，就當竭力前進，達到完全、成熟，不再立根基，就是悔改脫開死行，信靠神，

9. 為信仰竭力爭辯
猶大書 1:3
親愛的，我盡心竭力要寫信給你們，論到我們共享之救恩的時候，就不得不寫信勸你們，要為那一次永遠交付聖徒的信仰竭力爭辯。

1:9 所以，我们自从听见的日子，也就为你们不住的祷告祈求，愿你们在一切属灵的智慧和悟性上，充分认识神的旨意

Therefore we also, since the day we heard of it, do not cease praying and asking on your behalf that you may be filled with the full knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,

1. 充分认识神的旨意 (1:9)

2. 完全认识神的奥秘，就是基督 (2:2)

3. 藉着认识神而长大 (1:10)

4. 以神的增长而长大 Grow with the growth of God (2:9)

1:10 行事为人配得过主，以致凡事蒙祂喜悦，在一切善工上结果子，藉着认识神而长大，

To walk worthily of the Lord to please Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and growing by the full knowledge of God,

5. 凡事蒙祂喜悦, 在善工上结果子 (1:10)

6. 凡事欢喜的忍耐宽容  (1:11)

1:23 只要你们一直留于信仰中，根基立定，坚定不移，不被移动离开福音的盼望；这福音就是你们所听过，传与天下一切受造之物的，我保罗也作了这福音的执事。

If indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast and not being moved away from the hope of the gospel, which you heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, of which I Paul became a minister.

7. 一直留于信仰中，根基立定，坚定不移，不被移动离开福音的盼望 (1:23)

9. 在神的旨意上满有确信 Fully assured in all the will of God (4:12)

2:2 要叫他们的心得安慰，在爱里结合一起，以致丰丰富富的在悟性上有充分的确信，能以完全认识神的奥秘，就是基督；

That their hearts may be comforted, they being knit together in love and unto all the riches of the full assurance of understanding, unto the full knowledge of the mystery of God, Christ,

2:6-7 你们既然接受了基督，就是主耶稣，在祂里面已经生根，并正被建造，且照着你们所受的教导，在信心上得以坚固，洋溢着感谢，就要在祂里面行事为人。

As therefore you have received the Christ, Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, Having been rooted and being built up in Him, and being established in the faith even as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

2:19 不持定元首；本于祂，全身藉着节和筋，得了丰富的供应，并结合一起，就以神的增长而长大。

And not holding the Head, out from whom all the Body, being richly supplied and knit together by means of the joints and sinews, grows with the growth of God.

3:16 当用各样的智慧，让基督的话丰丰富富的住在你们里面，用诗章、颂辞、灵歌，彼此教导，互相劝戒，心被恩感歌颂神；

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.

4:6 你们的言语总要带着恩典，好像用盐调和，就可知道你们应当怎样回答各人。

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

2. 竭力追求基督作為標竿(goal), 獎賞(prize)
腓立比書 3:12-14
這不是說，我已經得著了，或已經完全了，我乃是竭力追求，或者可以取得基督耶穌所以取得我的。所以我們凡是長成的人，都要思念這事；你們若思念任何別的事，神也必將這事啟示你們。向著標竿竭力追求，要得神在基督耶穌裏，召我向上去得的獎賞。

3. 竭力追求良善 (good)
帖撒羅尼迦前書 5:15
你們要當心，誰都不可以惡報惡，卻要在彼此相待，或對待眾人上，常常竭力追求良善。

4-6. 竭力追求公義(righteousness)、信 (faith)、愛 (love)
提摩太前書 6:11
但你這屬神的人阿，要逃避這些事，竭力追求公義、敬虔、信、愛、忍耐、溫柔。

提摩太後書 2:22
你要逃避青年人的私慾，同那清心呼求主的人，竭力追求公義、信、愛、和平。

Save me from not enjoying You as grace.

Save me from being not flexible.
Save me from being too flexible.
Save me from having too many principles.
Save me from having no principles.

Save me from not being buildable.
Save me from my peculiarities.
Save me from my rough edges and ruggedness.
Save me from my desire to please men.
Save me from my desire not to please men.
Save me from my desire to be acknowledged.
Save me from my desire not to be acknowledged.

Save me from condemning and judging others.
Save me from not loving others.
Save me from not rejoicing all the time.
Save me from being disturbed by the environments.
Save me from being speaking and acting too quickly.

Save me from self-introspection.
Save me from self-righteousness.
Save me from self-condemnation.
Save me from self-indulgence.

Save me from darkness.
Save me from anxieties.
Save me from unfaithfulness.
Save me from lawlessness and orderlessness.
Save me from indifference.
Save me from independence.

Lord, I admit I simply can’t please You by myself. Alas, whatever I do in myself is pointless; it is  just not of Christ. Lord, I give up, please come in and save me. Do make me a proper vessel according to Your heart. I would not try to please You, I would not plan my path, and I would not define what righteous is. I just want to turn to You and stay in Your presence. Amen.
