• Christ and Church Life and Building Spirit and Bride

As a lover of Christ and a pursuer of truth, I write down my joys, memories and reflections.

May God lead us all into the secret of His presence, and build us into the oneness of His body in love.

Men have God’s life according to the Scripture

Bible does not say vain or empty words. Every word in the Bible has its significance. Based on the following verse in the Bible, it is definitely logical, reasonable, and scriptural that we have the life of God. I highly recommend you to check these verses by yourselves and even read the context.

  • We individually are God’s sons and daughters
  1. John 1:11-12: But s many as received Him, to them He gave the authority to become children of God, to those who believe into His name.
  2. John 3:5-7: Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do no marvel that I said to you, you must be born anew.
  3. Ephesians 5:1: Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
  4. Hebrews 12:6-7: For whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son whom He received,” It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons, For what son is there whom the father does not discipline?

In Old Testament, Jehovah God the Almighty has no intimate relationship with men. We worshipped Him but we do not call Him Father. In New Testament and in the resurrection of Jesus, we are qualified to call God our Father, and to be His sons and daughters. We need to see that a father-son relationship must be based on sharing the same life. Without having the same life, calling anyone father is vain and meaningless. For instance, we may love our pet dog a lot, and treat it like a family, but calling it our son has no reality and no significance. We have God’s life so we can call Him Father.

  • We individually are Jesus’ brothers and sisters
  1. John 15: 14: You are My friends if you do what I command you.
  2. Hebrew 2:11: For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which causes He is not ashamed to call them brothers.

In the crucifixion of Christ, we are cleansed, washed, and sanctified by His blood. Before the resurrection of Jesus, we are at best His friends (How glorious!), but after His resurrection, He is not ashamed to call us brothers. What happened? Jesus became the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45) in His resurrection so He can enter into us as our life. Having His life, we are legitimately brothers and sisters of Jesus.

  • We corporately as the church are the household of God.
  1. Ephesians 2:19: So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

Since we are God’s sons and daughters and Jesus’ brothers and sisters, logically and reasonably, we are part of one family, the household of God. We believers are not only created, saved and sanctified by God, but also are born in God into His family. We all know that family members share the same life and the same blood. The homogeneity of life and blood is what holds a family together.

  • We corporately as the church are the body of Christ.
  1. Ephesians 1:23: (church) which is His body, the fullness of the one who fills all in all.
  2. Ephesians 3:6: That in Christ Jesus the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the Body and fellow partakers of the promise through the gospel.
  3. Ephesians 5:23b: Christ is Head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the Body.
  4. Ephesians 5:30: Because we are members of His body.
It is common belief to Christian that Christ is the Head of His body, and we are members of His body as His extension, increase, and magnification. We must have God’s life just as one body must share one life. A human head cannot have a dog body, and a human body cannot have a dog head. The blood and same life must be sharing within the same body. We have to see that God does not stop at gaining lots of individual believers but “at the oneness of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, at full-grown man, at the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). “ We need to be built and joined together unto one Body in love (Ephesians 4:16).
  • We corporately as the church are the bride of Christ.
  1. Ephesians 5:32: This mystery is great, but I speak with regard to Christ and the church. (Please the context.)
  2. Rev. 21:2: And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
  3. Rev. 21:9-10: And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying, Come here; I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb. And he carried me away in spirit onto a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.

New Jerusalem is a city as the symbol for the church. This is a great mystery that all believers together corporately as the church are destined to be the bride of Christ. God desired a fair and properly prepared counterpart as His bride. This is a great mystery which has been hidden throughout the ages. Just as a man does not marry to other animals, God does not marry to something not of His kind. If we do not have God’s life, we as the church are false and fake bride.

  • We corporately as the church are the fullness of Christ.
  1. John 14: 20: In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
  2. Ephesians 1:23: (church) which is His body, the fullness of the one who fills all in all.
  3. Ephesians 3: 19b: you may be filled unto all the fullness of God.
  4. Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Bible, especially in Gospel of John, states many times that we are in God, and God in us. In logics, if A contains B and B contains A, then A and B overlaps exactly. I am not saying God is limited within us, but I certainly believe that there is a joining and mingling process between God and His believers. Otherwise, this mutual indwelling is vain speaking. Bible also states that we are the fullness of Christ. Colossians 1:16 and 17 says, “in Hi all things were created, … ; all things have been created through Him and unto Him. And He is before all things, and all things cohere in Him; “ Many verses state that Christ fills all, not just all believers, but all things. How could we be the fullness of the one who fills all and in all? How could anything be the fullness of air? Just as a balloon filled with air can be the fullness of air, we are filled by Christ so we can be His fullness. Without having His life or being filled by His life, it does not have reality to say that we are His fullness.

  • We have eternal life.

It is such a common knowledge that Christians shall receive the eternal life at the time of their salvation (John 3:16). But we have to see that the eternal life, is not just physically ever-lasting or immortal. The eternal life actually speaks of the quality of life, the life of light, the righteous life, and the holy life, not of the duration of the life. We really have to see the change of Christians after their salvation is not an outward performance or a change trying to match the truth, but is an inward transformation by God’s life and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. The only eternal life in this universe must be the very life of God. There could not be any other life which is eternal but not of God’s life. Having eternal life indicates that we have the life of God.
