• Christ and Church Life and Building Spirit and Bride

As a lover of Christ and a pursuer of truth, I write down my joys, memories and reflections.

May God lead us all into the secret of His presence, and build us into the oneness of His body in love.

A short review on the essential truth

While there are many teachings in the Bible, we Christians need to be clear about our faith, what the doctrines are, what are essential and important truth are, and what less important teachings are. We need to extremely firm and established with the fundamental truth yet very flexible and accommodating in church practices.

The divine Trinity and the Christology constitute the doctrines of Christian faith; deviation from them would lead to heresy. The former concerns about the persons of the Triune God, and the latter concerns about the persons of Christ.

The divine Trinity: There is only one God but with three aspects. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit coexist and co-inhere from eternity past to eternity future. The Father is the source, the Son is the course, and the Spirit is the flow. The Father is above all, the Son is through all, and the Spirit is in all. Essentially speaking, God is uniquely one, but economically speaking, God is three for His economy. It is heretic to consider God as three Gods or God as one yet changing His form from the Father, to the Son, and to the Spirit.

The Christoloy: Christ is both the complete God and the perfect man. He is the mingling of the divinity and humanity. It is heretic to consider Christ as only God or only Man. He was born in and lived as the flesh, not an illusion. He was not a third kind of being other than divinity and humanity.

Along with the above two, the ministry of Christ, and God’s complete salvation constitute the essential truth of Christian faith, but the deviation from them may not be heretic. The former concerns about what Christ did, is doing , and will do, the latter is about God’s economy concerning us.

The work and ministry of Christ: The ministry of Christ concerns includes both the earthly and heavenly ministry of Christ. The earthly ministry of Christ include His incarnation, human living, cruxifixion, resurrection, and asencion, mainly for manifesting God in the flesh as the perfect pattern, and for accomplishing the judicial redemption by dying on cross for our sins. In His incarnation to become the flesh, Christ brought divinity into humanity; in His resurrection and ascension to become the life-giving Spirit, He brought humanity into divinity. In His heavenly ministry, He has been raised as the Lord of all and given the name which is above every name. Today He is sitting at the right of the throne of God, operating all things accoring to His pleasure. He is also living in His believers’ spirit to accomplish God’s organic salvation.

God’s complete salvation: Just as the ministry of Christ has both earthly and heavenly aspects, God’s salvation is composed of both the judicial redemption and the organic salvation. The former deals with one’s sins, and is accomplished by the crucufixion of Christ and the shedding of His blood. In the judicial redemption, God forgives and forgets believers’ sins, sanctiies, reconsiles, and justifies them before Him. The latter deals with one’s sinful nature, and is accomplished by the indwelling and the inner-anointing life-giving Spirit by dispensing His life into us. The organic salvation starts with regeneration, continues with sancification, renewing, transformation, shepherding, building-up, and ends with conformation and glorification.

There are several imporant truth, but even so, we don’t need to insist on or argue over them. Some of which that fit these categories are: the revelation of the church, the Lord’s return, the propehcy concerning the great tribulation, the practices in the church life, Old testament typology concerning the offerings and the tabernacle.
