• Christ and Church Life and Building Spirit and Bride

As a lover of Christ and a pursuer of truth, I write down my joys, memories and reflections.

May God lead us all into the secret of His presence, and build us into the oneness of His body in love.

Some random thoughts on building up

  1. The truth and reality in God’s economy is Christ and the church. Christ is the first God-Man, the complete God and the perfect Man, the manifestation of God in the flesh, and the mingling of divinity and humanity. The church is the reproduction of this God-Man, the extension and magnification of Christ.
  2. God’s eternal purpose is not only to have Christ living out and reproduced in His many sons, but also to gain a corporate entity, the church, as Christ’s corporate expression. Having Christ be formed and matured in us requires life, but having the church be established requires building up.
  3. God complete salvation is composed of two parts. The judicial redemption saves us from our sinful deeds; the organic salvation saves us from our sinful nature. The organic salvation starts from our spirits, spreading and permeating through our souls, and ends with the glorification of our bodies.
  4. Similarly, the building up starts with the oneness in our spirits, and then spreads through our souls. The oneness is not only in the spirits but also in the souls. The Bible told us not only to be in one spirit, but also in one soul.
  5. The ultimate purpose of God’s economy is the Body, and the essence of the Body is the oneness. The mankind was created, redeemed, sanctified, and transformed for this. Christ incarnated, lived, died, and resurrected for this. If our Christian lives ends with individual experiences, the God’s economy is voided.
  6. The Body is the one New Man not only inn one spirit but also in one soul, meaning one mind, one emotion, and one will. This mind is the mind of Christ, the emotion is the emotion of Christ, and the one will is the will of Christ. The church is not only one Body sharing one life, but also one New man having the one person of Christ.
  7. The salvation of the soul is the key to our complete salvation, and the denial of the soul is the key to the salvation of the soul. The more we deny our soul life, the more we saved. The more we die to ourselves, the more life we receive. The more we take up our cross, the more Christ we gain. Yet the purpose of losing is the soul life is not an individual matter. The purpose of losing and denying the soul life is that our outer man may break. The more our outer man we break, the easier we may build up with others.
  8. In the books of Philippians, Paul mentioned forbearance, and Br. Lee commented that forbearance is the highest expression of divine life in human virtues. In the book of James, James wrote that “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, forbearing, compliant, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, without hypocrisy.”
  9. The one accord is the practical oneness, and proper coordination is the best test for the one accord. If a group of Christians or a church cannot come together to fellowship in oneness, or coordinate to serve in one accord, they are not mature yet. Conflicts will surely occur in corporate coordination and service. But a mature church would face them in a genuine way, and resolve the conflicts in peaceful way.
  10. A Christian’s church life is the real test for His maturity. A normal Christian must function normally in the church, and a functioning and serving Christian must coordinate with other members. Yet a real mature Christian would be forbearing, peaceable, and compliant in all practical matters in the church life.
