生命與律法相對

創世記 2:9
耶和華神使各樣的樹從地里長出來,可以悅人的眼目,也好作食物;園子當中有生命樹,還有善惡知識樹。
And out of the ground Jehovah God caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, as well as the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

傳道書 1:16-17
我自己心裡說,我得了大智慧,勝過以前所有治理耶路撒冷的人,我的心也見識了許多智慧和知識的事。我又專心要明白智慧,並要明白狂妄和愚昧,乃知這也是捕風。
I spoke to my own heart, saying, Now I have magnified and increased my wisdom more than all who have been over Jerusalem before me; and my heart has observed in abundance wisdom and knowledge. And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly; I perceived that this also is a chasing after wind.

羅馬書 7:12
這樣看來,律法是聖的,誡命也是聖的、義的並善的。
So then the law is holy, and the commandment holy and righteous and good.

羅馬書 7:16
若我所作的,是我所不願意的,我就同意律法是善的。
But if what I do not will, this I do, I agree with the law that it is good.

希伯來書 7:16
祂成了祭司,不是照著屬肉之誡命的律法,乃是照著不能毀壞之生命的大能;
Who has been appointed not according to the law of a fleshy commandment but according to the power of an indestructible life.

在新約裏,我們不但能看見生命樹的實際,也能看見知識樹的實際。正如在舊約裏一樣,我們也在新約裏看見,知識樹就在生命樹旁邊。希伯來七章十六節告訴我 們,基督被構成為大祭司,「不是照著屬肉之誡命的律法,乃是照著不能毀壞之生命的大能。」本節有兩個源頭:律法與生命。律法是在知識樹那邊,生命是在生命 樹這邊。本節有兩棵樹:知識樹和其旁的生命樹。創世記二章九節指明,這兩棵樹彼此非常接近。它們不但距離不遠,更是彼此並 立。我們若不謹慎,就會摸著知識樹,而沒有摸著生命樹;我們也許以為我們摸的是生命樹,因為知識樹與生命樹十分接近。

律法是善的,任何善的東西都非常接近生命。與生命有關的一切都是善的。對不能毀壞和無窮的生命,沒有什麼是壞的,一切都是善的。律法的誡命也是善的,所以 它們非常接近生命。照著我們墮落、天然的頭腦和鑒別,我們以為任何善的東西都是生命。但我們的心思需要得著更新並變化,領悟善的東西可能不是生命。認為任 何善的東西都是生命,乃是完全錯誤的。這是墮落頭腦的觀念。在希伯來七章十六節,律法與知識樹有關,生命與生命樹有關。

知識與愛相對

哥林多前書 8:1-2
關於祭偶像之物,我們曉得我們都有知識。知識是叫人自高自大,惟有愛建造人。若有人自以為知道什麼,按他所當知道的,他仍是不知道;
Now concerning things sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he has not yet come to know as he ought to know;

在林前八章一節保羅告訴我們:「知識是叫人自高自大,惟有愛建造人。」叫人自高自大的外面客觀知識,乃是出於善惡知識樹,死的源頭。十三章所描述屬靈(不屬肉體)的愛,乃是生命的彰顯,才能建造人。這種愛是出於生命樹,生命的源頭。知識是知識樹的事,愛是生命樹的事。

字句與那靈相對

哥林多後書 3:6
祂使我們夠資格作新約的執事,這些執事不是屬於字句,乃是屬於靈,因為那字句殺死人,那靈卻叫人活。
Who has also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant, ministers not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

林後三章六節告訴我們,使徒們是「新約的執事,這些執事不是屬於字句,乃是屬於靈,因為那字句殺死人,那靈卻叫人活」。創世記二章給我們看見,知識樹是死亡樹。神警告亞當,他若吃知識樹,必定死。新約說,字句殺死人。保羅談到字句,不是指報紙的字句,乃是指聖經的字句。就一面說,聖經殺死人。在林後三章六節,字句與那靈相對。
