Love each other 彼此相爱

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
While sometimes remembering the Lord’s great and first commandment to love Him, I often forget his second commandment to love one another (neighbor). Not a recommendation or suggestion but a commandment. Not just love but love as much as ourselves. May the Lord shine on us as we read His word, and may we touch His heart in His repeated commandments. This is not a supplementary but a primary issue. If we love the Lord, let’s love each other from a pure heart.
Praise the Lord for His commandments!

Lord’s commandment

And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the great and first commandment. And the second is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.

  • On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets

Mark 12:29-33
Jesus answered, The first is: “Hear, Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord; And you shall love the Lord your God from your whole heart and from your whole soul and from your whole mind and from your whole strength.” The second is this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. And the scribe said to Him, Well said, Teacher; in truth You have said that He is one and there is not another besides Him; And to love Him from the whole heart and from the whole understanding and from the whole strength and to love one’s neighbor as himself is much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.

  • There is no other commandment greater than these.
  • Much more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices

John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this shall all men know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

  • The Lord gave us a new commandment to love one another
  • As He have loved us, that we also love one another.
  • If we have love for one another, all men know that we are His disciples.

John 15:12-17
This is My commandment, that you love one another even as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do what I command you. No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all the things which I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and I set you that you should go forth and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name, He may give you. These things I command you that you may love one another.

  • This is the Lord’s commandment that we love one another even as He loved us.
  • If we do what He command us, we are His friends.
  • These things He command us that we may love one another.

Apostle Paul’s teachings

Romans 12:9-10
Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good. Love one another warmly in brotherly love; take the lead in showing honor one to another.

Romans 13:8-10
Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves the other has fulfilled the law. For, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet, ” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does not work evil to his neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

  • He who loves the other has fulfilled the law.
  • If there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
  • Love does not work evil to his neighbor
  • Love is the fulfillment of the law.

Galatians 5:13-14
For you were called for freedom, brothers; only do not turn this freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

  • For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

1 Thessalonians 3:12
And the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we also to you,

又愿主使你们彼此的爱并对众人的爱, 都能增多洋溢, 正如我们对你们一样;

1 Thessalonians 4:9
Now concerning brotherly love, you have no need for me to write to you, for you yourselves are taught of God to love one another;

关于弟兄相爱, 不用我写信给你们, 因为你们自己蒙了神的教导, 叫你们彼此相爱;

  • We ourselves are taught of God to love one another

2 Thessalonians 1:3
We ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers, even as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly and the love of each one of you all to one another is increasing,

  • The love of each one of us to another increases

Hebrews 13:1
Let brotherly love continue.

Apostle Peter’s teaching

Since you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth unto unfeigned brotherly love, love one another from a pure heart fervently,

你们既因顺从真理, 洁净了自己的魂, 以致爱弟兄没有假冒, 就当从清洁的心里彼此热切相爱;

1 Peter 2:17
Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

And finally be all of the same mind, sympathetic, loving the brothers, tenderhearted, humble-minded; Not rendering evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing one another, because you were called to this, that you might inherit blessing.

Above all, have fervent love among yourselves, because love covers a multitude of sins.

Apostle John’s teaching and ask.

Beloved, I am not writing a new commandment to you but an old commandment, which you have had from the beginning; the old commandment is the word which you heard. Yet again a new commandment I am writing to you, which is true in Him and in you because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining. He who says he is in the light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him; But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

  • He who says he is in the light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness.
  • He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him.
  • He who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

1 John 3:10-11
In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest. Everyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, neither he who does not love his brother. For this is the message which you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another,

在此, 神的儿女和魔鬼的儿女就显出来了。凡不行义的, 就不是出于神; 不爱他弟兄的也是如此。我们应当彼此相爱, 这就是你们从起初所听见的信息;

1 John 3:14-19
We know that we have passed out of death into life because we love the brothers. He who does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. In this we know love, that He laid down His life on our behalf, and we ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers. But whoever has the livelihood of the world and sees that his brother has need and shuts up his affections from him, how does the love of God abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word nor in tongue but in deed and truthfulness. And in this we will know that we are of the truth, and we will persuade our heart before Him,

我们因为爱弟兄, 就晓得是已经出死入生了。不爱弟兄的, 仍住在死中。凡恨他弟兄的, 就是杀人的; 你们晓得凡杀人的, 没有永远的生命住在他里面。主为我们舍命, 在此我们就知道何为爱; 我们也当为弟兄舍命。凡有世上养生之物的, 看见弟兄有需要, 却向他塞住慈心, 神的爱怎能住在他里面?孩子们, 我们相爱, 不要只在言语和舌头上, 总要在行为和真诚上。在此就知道, 我们是属真理的, 并且我们在祂面前可以安心;

  • We know that we have passed out death into life because we love the brothers.
  • He who does not love abides in death.
  • Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
  • We ought to lay down our lives on behalf of the brothers.

1 John 3:23
And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, even as He gave a commandment to us.

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God, and everyone who loves has been begotten of God and knows God. He who does not love has not known God, because God is love.

  • Let us love one another because love if of God.
  • Everyone who loves has been begotten of God and knows God.
  • He who does not love has not known God, because God is love.

1 John 4:11-12
Beloved, if God has loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another. No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

  • If God has loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.
  • If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:18-21
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear because fear has punishment, and he who fears has not been perfected in love. We love because He first loved us. If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from Him, that he who loves God love his brother also.

  • There is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear.
  • We love because He first loved us.
  • If anyone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar.
  • He who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
  • He who loves God loves his brother also.

1 John 5:1-3

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been begotten of God, and everyone who loves Him who has begotten loves him also who has been begotten of Him. In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

凡信耶稣是基督的, 都是从神生的; 凡爱那生他的, 也爱从祂生的。我们若爱神, 并行祂的诫命, 在此就知道我们爱神的儿女。我们遵守神的诫命, 这就是爱祂了; 并且祂的诫命不是难担的;

  • Everyone who loves Him who has begotten loves him also who has been begotten of Him.
  • In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments.

2 John 1:5-6
And now I ask you, lady, not as writing a new commandment to you but that which we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you walk in love.

  • Not a new commandment but from the beginning, that we love one another.
  • This is love, that we walk according to His commandments
  • This is the commandment that you walk in love.

Don’t Gossip

Matthew 5:37 But let your word be, Yes, yes; No, no; for anything more than these is of the evil one.

James 3:2, 4-5 For in many things we all stumble. If anyone does not stumble in word, this one is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well….Behold, the ships also, though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, are directed by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the pilot wills. So also the tongue is a little member yet boasts great things. Behold, how great a forest so little a fire ignites!

Proverbs 11:13 He who goes about as a gossip reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.

Proverbs 16:27-28 A worthless man digs up evil, And on his lips there is a scorching fire.A perverse man spreads strife, And a whisperer separates close friends.

Proverbs 20:19 He who goes about as a gossip reveals secrets; Therefore do not associate with one who opens his lips wide.

Proverbs 26:20 For lack of wood the fire goes out, And where there is no whisperer, contention quiets down.

Romans 1:28,30 And even as they did not approve of holding God in their full knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mind, to do the things which are not fitting, Whisperers, slanderers, hateful to God, insolent, arrogant, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be a pattern to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

2 Timothy 3:2-3,5 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, not lovers of good, … Having an outward form of godliness, though denying its power; from these also turn away.

10 points concerning prayer

Ephesians
And receive the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which Spirit is the word of God, By means of all prayer and petition, praying at every time in spirit and watching unto this in all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints,

Luke 18:1

Revelation

And I said to him, My lord, you know. And he said to me, These are those who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them and guide them to springs of waters of life; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

God hates

Ecclesiastes 3:8 A time to love, and a time to hate; A time for war, and a time for peace.

Thought we all thought God is all loving with unconditional love, Bible does reveal that God hates too.

1. Idol Worship

Deuteronomy 16:21-22 You shall not plant for yourself an Asherah of any kind of tree beside the altar of Jehovah your God, which you will make for yourself; Nor shall you erect for yourself a pillar, something which Jehovah your God hates.

2. Robbery with wrong

Isaiah 61:8 For I, Jehovah, love justice; I hate robbery with wrong; And I will faithfully give them their recompense, And I will make an eternal covenant with them.

3. Wickedness

Psalms 45:7 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness above Your companions.

4. Pride

Amos 6:8 The Lord Jehovah has sworn by Himself, Declares Jehovah the God of hosts, I abhor the pride of Jacob, And his palaces I hate; Therefore I will deliver up the city and its fullness.

5. Divorce

Malachi 2:16 For I hate divorce, says Jehovah the God of Israel; and he who does it behaves in violence, says Jehovah of hosts. Take heed then to your spirit, and do not be treacherous.

6. Thinking evil in his hearts about his neighbor

7. False Oath

Zechariah 8:17 And let none of you think evil in your hearts about his neighbor; and do not love a false oath; for all these are the things I hate, declares Jehovah.

8. The works of the Nicolaitans

Revelation 2:6 But this you have, that you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
